Children’ Illustration Inspiration Gathering
Doing some research on illustration for kids since that’s (part of?) what I’ll be doing starting next week. Loving what I’m finding! So many adorable characters, beautiful colour palettes and textures.
Even though my art usually gravitates towards the adorable, I’ve never thought about illustrating things specifically for kids before. I’ve always just drawn what appealed to me (or in some cases adjusting the style & content to what the project needs).
What are your favourite children’s books (or sites, apps, games, shows, toys)?

Hungry Caterpillar
There’s A Hippopotamus Eating Cake on My Roof
Possum Magic
Wombat Stew
Starlight Princess and Other Princess Stories (all the pictures in it are embroideries)
etc.
Ooooh! Thanks, Paige!
The most vivid illustrations I remember are the ones from Shel Silverstein. They were kinda creepy, but I found them rather thought provoking.
