Gameful Launches
This morning I got an email in my inbox saying that Gameful.org has launched! (I remember signing up for one of those “tell me when you’re live” notifications.) It’s a community for people who want to make games that … well, I’ll let them explain:
As a planet, we spend 3 billion hours a week playing computer and videogames. That’s a LOT of time — enough to change our lives, and probably save the world (the real world) while we’re at it.That’s why we’ve created a secret HQ for people who are making games that are making us:
- happier
- smarter
- stronger
- healthier
- more collaborative
- more creative
- better connected to our friends and family
- and better at WHATEVER we love to do when we’re not playing games(From About Gameful.)
I love absolutely everything that Jane McGonigal has ever done, and what she stands for – using the power of games to change the world! I participated in her Evoke game earlier this year and am still blown away by Top Secret Dance Off.
LoA Alert: Note that only this morning I posted: “Wouldn’t it be nice to draw items for Neopets, Subeta or Pet Society?” And… BAM. Here is my opportunity to do something really close! And even better since these will be games specifically designed to make the world a better place.
Here is my profile on Gameful, it’s still empty right now, but I can’t wait to go home and fill it out and hammer some sample item illustrations!! Excited!
The profile design is divine. It’s set up like a game. You get your own monster egg. You can unlock achievements by doing stuff on the site. Love love love.
